A new warehouse management feature will track units pending putaway after Goods Receipt Note (GRN) and Quality Check (QC). If a unit awaits putaway and is not placed in a shelf within a specific timeframe, the system will move it to a virtual "Not Found" location. This status is visible on the dashboard with unit ageing and pendency. Units in this virtual location are excluded from order transactions. If a unit is later found (via cycle count or W2W Audit ), Unit will be moved from the virtual location to its actual found location automatically. Method and Workflow When a new unit arrives (fresh consignment or return), the putaway task is created post-GRN and QC. The system tracks pendency for putaway. If putaway is not completed within a defined time, the unit appears on the dashboard marked with ageing and a "not found" status. After the threshold, the system assigns the unit to a virtual "Not Found" location automatically. The virtual location prevents these units from being assigned to orders or transactions. During cycle count or (W2W) Audit, if these units are found, they are removed from the virtual location and re-assigned to the new found shelf. Pros Boosts real-time visibility of unassigned units, improving tracking and investigation. Automates escalation and reduces manual follow-up on putaway pendency. Minimizes order errors and inventory mismatches by isolating not found units from order allocation. Enables root-cause analysis and operational accountability for uncompleted putaways. Eases reconciliation during cycle counts and lets users instantly update inventory location. Cons: The requirement for timely putaway completion may increase operational pressure on ground staff. Continuous system monitoring may require upgrades to dashboard and alerting infrastructure. Dependency on accurate cycle count and W2W processes to ensure virtually assigned units are promptly reconciled. If not properly configured, some units might get incorrectly marked "not found" and become unavailable for legitimate orders. Training may be needed for operations teams to adapt to automated assignment and recovery workflow. This feature aligns with advanced inventory management trends by automating unit tracing, reducing manual intervention, and preventing stockout/order errors, while requiring adequate change management and systematic process discipline for full effectiveness.
